Increased Consumption at Guthrie. During the past three years the revenue from water has steadily increased at Guthrie, Okla. During the year ending June 30, 1905, the receipts were $9,604, and the expense of pumping the supply reached within $142 of consuming the entire receipts, The next year the receipts were increased to $11,038, while the cost of supply increased almost $200. During the last year ending June 30, 1907, the receipts amounted to $12,110, while the pumping expense, as compared with that of the year 1904-5, was increased only $300. That is to say—while the water receipts have considerably increased, while the expenses have been less than oneeighth. The report of Commissioner Spenser also shows conclusively that the meter system of serving the consumer is far more profitable to the city than taps.
