Report of Chicopee Water Department. The report of the water commissioners of Chicopee shows a decrease in consumption of water during the year from the Cooley brook system, due probably to the addition of Sherman pond to the Abbey gravity system, so that pumping to help to supply the West End, which gets its water from the Abbey system, has not been necessary. The report does not consider the water from the gravity system in figuring the amount used, only what is pumped, which is somewhere in the vicinity of ninety per cent, of the water used in the city. The daily average pumping for the last three years has been as follows: 1905, i,73;399; 1906, 1,600,234 ; 1907, 1,579.915According to the report, part of the saving is probably due to the connecting of Sherman pond with the Abbey system last year.
