To effect a reduction of $4,680 a year in the operating expenses of the Dubuque, Ia., waterworks system, instead of drawing the supply from seventeen driven wells, the new pump will draw from twenty-seven. It is an open question yet whether the increased number of wells will furnish an increase in flow proportionate to the increased number; but the supposition is that they will, in which event the increase in flow will be fifty per cent.
