Boiler Works Fire at Pawtucket. A night fire destroyed the Wholey Boiler Works at Pawtucket, R. I., with a loss of at least $20,000. The origin of the fire is not known, but, when the department under Chief Butler arrived, it had gained sufficient headway to necessitate turning in a second alarm, which called out nearly all the apparatus in the city. Someone, also, without being authorised to do so, pulled a Providence fire-alarm box, which brought from that city Acting District Chief Foster, with three hose companies. The Pawtucket men, however, had utilised all the hydrants that could he used without weakening the pressurealready none too good, the streams thrown not being sufficient to have reached the third story of an ordinary business building.
