New York State Fire and Water News. Specially written for FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING. Buffalo, which, through no fault of the fire department, has of late been unfortunate in the way of fires, was visited with another early in the morning of February 14, when the printing office of the Courier company—the printery, not the newspaper—was burned. The origin of the fire is not known; but the blaze was under great headway when discovered; the flames were bursting out of all windows on the rear that faces on an alley. The firemen had difficult work because of falling floors and presses; but they confined the fire to the extension in which it started. Other parts of the building and adjoining buildings were damaged. The damage to building and stock was set down at $250,000.
