New Jersey Fire Notes. The New Jersey public schools are being investigated with a view to escaping any such catastrophe as happened at Collinwood. Fire-drills, facilities of exit, the installation of fire-escapes are the most that can be generally looked for in the way of betterment, as the great majority, if not all of the existing schools make no pretensions to being fireproof structures. Fire-drills are practised to a greater or less degree in all the larger cities and towns, but not always regularly. —Hoboken’s board of trade is ready to order a medal for the fireman with the best record for the past year. The design of the medal had been selected, and all that is needed by the board is the name of the fireman to receive it and the date for the presentation.
