New Chief for Springfield, Mass. On April 1 Chief Littlefield steps down and out from the position of head of the fire department at Springfield, Mass., and is succeeded by William H. Daggett, the present deputy chief examiner. His ass stant engineers will be Everett A. Kimball, captain of engine company No. 2, Burton Steere, captain of engine company No. 1, and John R. Graves, captain of the auxiliary squad. Springfield wid thus be fortunate in the higher olticers of its fire department, as each one of the appointees mentioned above bears a fine record or good, faithful and intelligent work. The future head of the department is a man in his prime, who in the absence of Chief Littlefield has frequently been in command of the department when it has been called to some big fire and on each occasion he has acquitted himself admirably.
