Water Supply on Trains. Eugene H. Porter, commissioner of the New York State health department, in a report, following an investigation just completed by his department into the subject of the water supplies used on passenger trains in this State, says that, in general, the quality of the supplies may be said to correspond to the quality of the water supplied to the various cities and larger villages of the State. Practically, all the important points of supply are from public water supplies. The report says that there is comparatively little danger from the use of water from wells or from sources not under the control of some municipal authority. Suggestions will be made by the department in some places as to the improvement of the water supply and the manner in which tanks arc cleaned and iced.
