Fire-Loss in May. The fire-loss for last May shows a decrease of $1,105,150 and $1,331,700 over the corresponding month in 1907 and 1906 respectively, as will be seen from the accompanying comparative table, which also shows that the total fire-loss for the first five months of the present year was $3,942,400 above the corresponding period in 1907 and $257,069,150 below that of 1906—the year of the San Francisco conflagration.
