PROTECTION OF WASHINGTON SCHOOLS The following is a copy of Chief W. T. Belt’s final report to the commissioners of the District of Columbia, following his inspection of the public schools of the District. In view of the great discussion along the line of fire protection for such buildings, it will be of interest to the readers of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING: Hon. Henry B. F. Macfarland, Commissioner, District of Columbia. Dear Sir: 1 have the honor to report that the work of inspecting the public schools of the District of Columbia, which was undertaken by me in accordance with your instructions of March 7, 1908, has now been completed, the total number of buildings inspected being 152.
