The city supplies all the apparatus. Thomas Manwarring has been appointed chief of the Latonia, Ky., department. W. S. Roebuck has been appointed deputy State fire marshal at Bellefontaine, Ohio. A $16,000 fire at Chilliwack, B. C., destroyed two uninsured and non-fire-protected mills. Chattawa, Miss., has no fire protection. A sawmill valued at $30,000 burned to ashes. H. J. Ortmeycr, is the newly appointed chief at Orange, Tex. Louis Smaihall is assistant. At Louisville, Ky., the plant of the American Seeding company was damaged to the extent of $50,000. The volunteer fire department at Kent, Wash., has been reorganised, with Dr. Keltner as chief. A $30,000 fire partly destroyed the business building at 360 South Los Angeles street, Los Angeles,…
