New York State Water News. Edward Hatch, jr., chairman of the New York Merchants’ association committee on the pollution of the State waters, has filed another complaint at the executive chamber, Albany, protesting to Governor Hughes against the alleged pollution of the waters of the upper Hudson valley and lake Champlain and tributary streams by the “discharge of pulp-mill waste.” Mr. Hatch says that the association which lie represents has without success made “efforts for the last five years to secure the abatement of the nuisance by the action of the State authorities.” He reminds Governor Hughes that he was not deterred from his “courageous campaign against racetrack gambling by considerations of the amount of capital invested.” “The financial loss that would be felt by the pulp-mill owners (he adds), if they were compelled to respect the rights of health and property of the rest of the community would be…
