New Jersey Fire Notes. The question of extending the fire limits of Newark to conform to its growth and progress will be considered shortly, the object being to provide for the placing of greater safeguards against damage by fire in respect to future constructions, especially in those sections that have been built up rapidly since the last fire limits were established. In accordance with recommendations made by Commissioner Burke, the fire board at Newark has created the office of an extra battalion chief and two extra captains. The promotions are in line with a general scheme of redistricting the city so that more efficient service may be rendered by the officers of the fire department. Long Branch lias bad several large fires within the last thirty-six years, but not more than one building at any time has burned.
