The ballots gave him a total of 98,759—41,421 above the nearest competitor and 98,741 above the lowest of the whole twentythree men of that rank. The aggregate of votes cast was 317,556 between October 19 and November 14, both inclusive In Newark, at a recent fire in the 3-story Gould and Fberhardt factory, on Railway avenue, $5,000 worth of wood patterns and a number of new moulds were destroyed, and the entire pattern shop was wrecked.
