New York State Fire News. According to a local paper, the proprietors of Hotel Rochester and Powers Hotel in Rochester, will apply to the court for an injunction against the city to prevent the ringing of the city hall bell whenever there is an alarm of fire. These hotels are located but a short distance from the city hall, and it is claimed that the clanging of the bell is a great annoyance to their guests at night. Ringing the city bell for a fire-alarm was abolished in Utica some time since, and it seems to give general satisfaction. The location of a fire is promptly announced in the enginehouses and newspaper offices, and that is all that is required.
