New Buildings at Chatauqua. The Chautauqua Institution, at Chautauqua. N. Y., lost by fire on October 19 the building in which most of its business activities were housed. The money loss was $100,000 burned, partly borne by tenants, rather than the institution itself, and half-covered by insurance. A new colonnade will be built upon the old site, more substantial and less liable to fire. The new building will be less crowded, as neither the post office nor the print shop will be housed there. A new brick building in the same style as the new colonnade, with rows of Doric columns in front and back, and with a sloping slate roof, will be erected for the post office and for the print shop underneath.
