New Bedford Fire Department. Chief Dahill, of the New Bedford, Mass., fire department, writes as follows: “We have 10 brick fire stations and one of frame; 54 permanent men, 183 call men, 48 horses, 8 steamers, 11 hose wagons, a combination auto chemical and hose wagon, 3 ‘Dahill’ aerial trucks, 1 combination truck. Some of the hose wagons above enumerated are tenders to the engines, and others are equiped with chemical tanks and run as hose companies. We have 8 engine companies and 4 hose companies. We are also building a new station and expect to purchase another piece of automobile fire apparatus in the near future.”
