New York State Fire News. The Peekskill Military Academy, one of the most famous institutions of the kind in the countrry, which recently celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary, was practically destroyed by an afternoon fire. The old section of the main building and the newer part of it, put up forty years ago, which housed the dormitories, classrooms, and dininghalls, were burned. The armory was slightly damaged. The gymnasium was unharmed. Nearly all the 125 students at the acad etny were at drill in the gymnasium when the lire was first seen, and the boys worked hard to save not only their own personal effects, but the school furniture and fittings. The total loss by the lire is estimated at about $120,000. The school is a semi-public institution and the property is owned by the city of Peekskill, the school being managed by a board of trustees.
