Fire Waste Conference. The Tennessee Conference for the Reduction of Fire Waste will meet in Nashville, Tenn., on January 30. The program includes general discussions, addresses on inspections, fire marshal, building laws, etc. The speakers include James V. Barry, insurance commissioner of Michigan, Wm. N. Johnson, of Pennsylvania, Overton W. Price, associate forester of the Government, who will speak especially on the effect of forest fires, others. The meeting will be held in the hall of the house of representatives and opened with an address by Governor Patterson. It is expected that at this meeting the abnormal loss ratio that prevails in the State will be thoroughly discussed and that, as a consequence, steps will he taken to maintain some permanent fire-prevention organisation.
