Illinois State Firemen in Convention. The twenty-first an nual convention of the Illinois State Firemen’s associatiou was held at Clinton on January 12, 13 and 14, Peter Kipley, of Riverdale presiding. The delegates—some 200 in number, from 86 of the 154 departments in union with the associaion-were welcomed by Mayor Edmondson, whose address was replied to by Prisedent Kipley, Vicepresident Chain and M. J. Myers. The subjects chiefly discussed were firemen’s pension and benefit fund, and the disbarring of professional runners from tournaments. Nothing of general interest in the way of improving the fire service, the prevention of fires, fire protection or the advances made in equipment was discussed. The officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows: President N. T. Pierce, Xenia; vicepresidents, Peter Kipley, Riverdale. F. G. Danner, Mount Pulaski, K. E.
