Artesian Water Round Columbus. The outlook for artesian well water round Columbus, Ga., is very encouraging. Like other cities in that State, it is situated on an artesian vein, so to say, and the underground strata abound in water. At times, however, as is the case with all sand wells, trouble arises, owing to the fact that the straineropenings occasionally get closed up by fine sand. As that is pumped out the wells are once more brought up to their proper yield. The water is reached by boring down past the bottom of the level of Hull creek, near and in which these wells are located. A depth of 175 ft. had to he reached, and the creekbottom is about 40 ft. below the level of the plateau where the wells are bored.
