FIRE DEPARTMENT BIDS OPENED The board of public safety, at Louisville, Ky., has contracted for 275 uniforms. St. Paul, Minn., has awarded contracts for 10,-000 ft. of hose to Eastern manufacturers, and for 3 hose wagons to a local firm. At Dunkirk, N. Y., the Eureka Fire Hose company has received a contract for new hose and complete nozzles. Schenectady, N. Y. Bids for 1,000 ft. of 2 ½in. double-jacket, cotton, rubber-lined hose, and 1,000 ft. of 3-in. were received on February 24. as follows: Thomas J. MacGregor. Schenectady. 53 1/2 cents, and 75 cents: Eureka Fire Hose company. 65 cents and 95 cents, respectively. Dallas, Tex., has awarded a contract to the American-La France Fire Engine company for a combination chemical and hose wagon for the Oak Lawn station at $1,260.
