New Boston Fireboat. The boat, which will have its machinery and boilers installed at the wharf of Bertelsen & Peterson, on Border street, will be at least two months before she is ready for service. Her principal dimensions are as follows: Length over all, 113 ft. 9 in., beam 26 ft., draught 9 ft. The hull is sheathed with copper below the water line. The propelling engines are of the vertical, inverted compound type, driving a single screw. Steam is supplied by two boilers of the Scotch type, 11 ft. in diameter and 10 ft. 9 in long, designed for a working pressure of 140 lb. per sq. in. and fitted with forced draught. There are two fire pumps, with a combined capacity of 6,000 gal. of salt water per minute, with a pressure of 175 lb. per sq. in. at the pumps. There are four large Monitor swivel-nozzles—two on…
