Prompt Hose Shipment. The Eureka Fire Hose Manufacturing company stales that during the large conflagration in Rochester on April 13 at 5.05 p. m. it received a telephone message, requesting it to ship 5,000 ft. of Paragon fire hose, complete with couplings, at $1 per foot, by express to that city. Notwithstanding the fact that the company’s works closed down at 6 p. m., by running departments overtime, it shipped the entire 5,000 ft. on the fast New York Central express, leaving Grand Central Station at 11.45 that night. It was necessary to thread 100 sets of couplings, attach them to the hose, and then haul the hose from the works in Jersey City to Forty-seventh street and Madison avenue, Manhattan, New York, to the American Express company’s receiving station.
