Responsibility for Damage by Fire.

Issue 18 and Volume 45.

Responsibility for Damage by Fire. A Canadian judge of the Superior court, after reviewing the facts, has declared a builder responsible for the damage caused by a fire in a dwellinghouse at Outremont. He said: “I find that the defendant was in fault in the construction of the hearth in question and that that fault produced the fire, and, therefore, that the defendant must indemnify the plaintiff for the loss which the fire caused. Judgment will, therefore, go in favor of the plaintiff for the sum of $400 and costs.”
