New Jersey State Fire News. The Exempt Firemen’s association of Hackettstown has received an interesting relic. It is a hand engine, built in London in 1698 and brought to this country in 1763. Its first use in America was to tight the fires that were frequently set by the Indians in a section then sparsely settled and open to attacks from the redskins. In the Wyoming valley, in Pennsylvania, it was first used for that kind of service. At Trenton. N. J., a large part of the Trenton Rubber company’s plant, situated outside the city, has been destroyed bv fire, at a loss of about $100,000. At Utica the combination chemical, hook and ladder and hose wagons for the new station at Neilsor. and Eagle streets, has been received, and the house will be placed in commission about July 1.
