Veteran Chicago Fireman Dead. Captain William bigg, for thirty-two years one of Chicago’s foremost firefighters, died July 7 of neuralgia of the heart at his home at the age of sixty-four. Captain Figg was born in Alabama and came to Chicago shortly after the Civil war while still a young man, and subsequently joined the citv fire department. He was a prominent number of Custer Post, No. 40, G. A. R ; D. C. Cregier Lodge, No. 463, A. F. and A. M.; Arion Council of the Royal League, Illinois Council of the Royal Arcanum and the lire department mutual benevolent association. Many of his friends declare that Captain Figg’s death was hastened by bis brooding over his retirement from the fire department two months ago.
