Charleston Improves Its Fire Alarm System. The renovation and bringing up to proper efficiency of Charleston’s fire alarm system is nearly complete. The installation of the improved chloride accumulator storage battery at fire department headquarters, is completed and is being followed by the putting in of the new 8-circuit repeater for the fire alarm telegraph system. The storage battery was installed by the mechanics and electricians of the lire department itself, thereby saving the city not a little expense. The racks, insulation and con ncctions are all of the most modern type and are a great improvement over the old battery in use for the last ten years. The H circuit repeater was authorized by city council recently on the very strong recommendations of Chief Behrens and Acting Superintendent of the hire Alarm Telegraph Hi caise in their last annual report.
