Late Waterworks News. Nearly all the citizens of Syracuse, Kan., have signed a petition to the mayor and city council asking that a special election be called to vote bonds to put in a municipal waterworks. A special water rate commission, of Oakland, Cal., has submitted a voluminous report to the city council, recommending a reduction by the People’s Water Company on the water rates charged, and that the consumers install modern plumbing, and the company give at least a two weeks’ notice where a change is intended to be made from the flat to the meter rate. The council of Camden, N. J., with the object of establishing an auxiliary pumping station, has instructed Chief Hollingsworth, of the water department, to inquire into the cost, prepare plans and report at the next meeting of the council.
