Mount Vernon Fire Report. The annual report of Chief Charles C. Howard, of the Mt. Vernon, N. Y., fire department, shows that during the year ending October 1 there were 116 alarms of fire, which was an increase of 40 over the number in the preceding year. There were 52 box alarms, 61 minor, and three still. The number of alarms sent in from street boxes was 12, and the number of transmitter alarms was 74. There were 71 working fires during the year, 17 brush fires, 20 calls for supposed fires, five false alarms, and three calls outside the citv limits. The valuation of property in which fires occurred was: Buildings, $449,120; contents, $255,200; to tal, $704,320. The insurance was as follows: Buildings, $310,000; contents, $193,650; total. $503,650. The loss was as follows: Buildings, .126.353.40: contents, $24,038.91; total, $50,392.31.
