Meterage. As the result of a recent conference of the mayor, board of public works and members of the council committee on waterworks of Fort Wayne, Ind., it was decided to proceed immediately with the preparation and passage of an ordinance providing for the metering of all city water services and fixing a time when that shall be accomplished and the present flat water rates abolished. The city attorney has been instructed to prepare a suitable ordinance for presentation to council at its next meeting. The city council of Springfield, 111., has under consideration an ordinance providing for the meterage of all water consumed and the increase of the present minimum domestic rate from $4 to $6 per annum, which allows the consumer to use not to exceed 6,000 gallons a month.
