Water Department of Clinton. Clinton, Mass., obtains its water from a spring basin and a number of ponds, by gravitation, the supply, even in a dry year, proving adequate to all demands made on it. The analyses made at different tnmes by the State Board of Health show excellent results as regards purity. The average per-capita consumption for all purposes is about 41 gallons; but on domestic metered services it only averages about 16 gallons per capita. As tile water commissioners remark in their report: “It can be easily seen from this what meters can do to stop water waste. At the present time all basins arc filled to their entire capacity.” Superintendent John 1. Philliin describes, as part of the work of the past year, the cleaning of the ponds, etc., in the supply system and the extension of pipe lines 1,838 feet, making in all 35 miles, 830…
