Notes on Filtration. Water has been turned into the filterbeds of the new filtration system of Wilmington, Del. At a special town meeting held at Longmeadow, Mass., it was unanimously voted to appropriate $2,500 for the construction of a filter plant, in addition to $3,000 already appropriated for this purpose. A recent meeting of the finance and waterworks committees of the Davenport, Iowa, council, voted to award a contract Tor a 6,000,000gallon filter plant to be erected, at the reservoir site, to the Pittsburg Filter Manufacturing Company. The Springfield, Mo., Water Company will install a Jewell filtration system at its main pumping station. It will be housed in a two-story reinforced concrete building 100×150 feet, and will be of 6,000,000 gallons daily capacity. It is to be ready for use by Tune.
