THE LATEST WEEKLY BUDGET OF FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS The customs tobacco store, at Alexandria, Egypt, was gutted by fire on January 1. The resultant loss being about $1,500,000. The warehouse contained tobacco valued at nearly $5,000,-000, but the bulk of it was saved by sailors and marines, landed front a German cruiser in the harbor. Chief Utz, of the Niagara, N. Y., fire department, has received a $100 check front Major M. B. Butler, in behalf of tile Butler Grocery Company, for meritorious services during the fire which partly destroyed the Allen Block some time ago. It will be applied to the firemen’s pension fund.
