A new bell has been installed upon the engine house at Honevbrook, Pa. George Smith, chief of the Silvis, Ill., fire department, is reported as being seriously ill. George W. Spitzmesser has been appointed chief of the Le Roy, N. Y., fire department. F. C. Hoard has been chosen as chief of the Antwerp, N. Y., fire department for the ensuing year. A test of the new 60-horsepower fire engine for the Cooperstown, N. Dak., department proved satisfactory. The San Francisco department has lost seven valuable horses as a result of a typhoid-pneumonia epidemic. Robert J.
