Maryland’s Fire Marshal Sued. Claiming $250,000 damages, the Old Virginia Antique Furniture Company, of Baltimore. Md., has commenced suit against State Fire Marshal Ewell, of Maryland, for alleged unlawful interference with the company’s property and business and alleged false statements which caused insurance companies to cancel policies on the company’s property. The company conducts business at 305 and 307 North Howard street and has a repair shop on Jasper street. On January 2 last, the declaration states. Marshal Ewell visited the company’s store on North Howard street to investigate escaping gas. He is charged with unlawfully causing the arrest of George F. Buchholz, president of the company, and requiring him to surrender the keys of the premises.
