Annual Fire Department Reports. William C. Davol, chief engineer of Fall River, Mass., in his annual report recommends the purchase of an additional engine and truck, and the board of fire commissioners in a brief report recommend that only autmobile hose and chemical apparatus be purchased in the future. The department responded to 386 alarms during the year, 109 bell, and 227 still alarms. The estimated value of property directly involved was $8,866,385, covered by $8,397,910 insurance. The insurance paid on actual losses was $91,841.52. The force of the department consists of 148 members, 118 permanent and 30 call men. Chief Thomas J. McFarland, of the Marion, Ohio, fire department in his annual report strongly urges the council to take action for better fire protection for the city.
