WATER WORKS NEWS OF THE WEEK The embankments of a large reservoir at Julesburg, Colo., gave way last week, causing a loss of about $150,000. Holyoke, Mass., wants a new reservoir, and the aldermen are considering the borrowing of $150,000 for its construction. There are 2,308,000,000 gallons of water in storage in the three reservoirs of Worcester, Mass. This is enough to last the city 240 days. The city of Newark, N. J., has just acquired 378 acres of land in the Pequannock watershed. The expenditure will approximate $40,000. An echo of winter comes from Moyie, B. C., which last week suffered from a water famine, owing to its supply system being frozen up. A bill permitting the Louisville, Ky., Waterworks Co. to increase its bond issue from $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 has been approved by the Governor.
