Fire Cable Extension at San Francisco. The electricity commission of San Francisco, Cal., made up of the fire and police boards, acting jointly, adopted a resolution calling on the board of supervisors to provide money to cover the cost of laying a new main cable from headquarters of the fire department at 55 Fulton street to and down McAllister street and Market to the ferry; also for the making of certain lateral connections therewith. The cable now in use is said not to be depended upon in so important a matter as the sending in of fire alarms. To replace this old cable will cost $3,240, according to the estimates made, but $8,740 is desired that extensions may be made to provide for connections with alarm boxes to be installed in the future.
