Ten Rescued by Brooklyn, N. Y. Firemen. When in response to an early morning alarm hook and ladder 51 of the Brooklyn, N. Y., fire department reached a burning five-story flathouse on President street, in that city, one day last week they found on the third floor a woman and four children, who were unable to reach the street by the stairs on account of the flames. Thev were carried down the extension ladder, which the company quickly raised. A woman and two men from the third floor were likewise carried to safety, and finally two men were taken by the same route from the roof. The fire was extinguished, and a man the firemen found prowling around the third floor, who was unable to give a good account of himself, was turned over to the police.
