Waterworks Litigation. Kearny, N. J., has just paid a claim of $35,000 to the Suburban Water Company in settlement of a judgment which the courts recently allowed. LeMars, Ia., is considering the advisability of owning a water and light plant. The city is at present in litigation with the LeMars Water and Light Company, which supplies the town. The city council claims the company does not live up to its franchise. The company secured a temporary injunction against the city’ some weeks ago restraining the city from flushing hydrants. Jersey City, N. J. street and water board has carried its fight against the proposed scheme of the East Jersey Water Company, through a subsidiary company, to supply Staten Island with water form this state, to the state water commission.
