FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS The estimated losses by fire in the United States and Canada, reported for the week ending August 29, amounted to $4,670,583. I., and several mysterious fires traced to his peculiar choice of amusement. The Colored State Firemen’s Association of North Carolina will hold its annual convention in New Bern, beginning on September 6. Casper Brand, for the past 20 years treasurer of the Houghton. Mich., fire department, has resigned from that office because of poor health. There were 589 fires in New Orleans, La., during 1909, as compared with 741 for the previous year.
