Efficient Village Waterworks. Charles W. Bowker, chief of the fire department at South Paris, Me., makes this statement: “The fire department hope they have demonstrated the efficiency of the South Paris Village Corporation waterworks to the satisfaction of those who will admit a fact when their eyes see it. There were five hose companies ordered to attach to five different hydrants and play two streams each. We were short one line of hose on account of a mistake, so we only had nine streams of water, all from one and one-eighth inch nozzles. This is a fire stream, not an exhibition size. The result was wonderful. We ran an extension ladder, which is 50 feet long, up on the High street side of I. O. O. F. block.
