Long Branch Has a Good Year. Former Fire Chief C. P. Soffel of Long Branch, N. J., has filed his report with City Council. There are 173 men in the department, fifteen of whom are paid. During the year 1910 there were 59 fires. The loss is estimated, at a little over $20,000, this loss being covered by insurance aggregating $48,540. Chief Soffel appreciates the efforts made by the members of the department in responding promptly and giving him their hearty co-operation. The following is a list of men in service of the Oceanic Engine and Truck Co., 97 inen; Independent Engine and Truck Co.. 100 men; Neptune Hose Co., 40 men; West End Engine Co., 66 men; Phil Daly Hose Co.. 40 men : Elberon Engine Co., 36 men; Oliver Doud Byron Engine Co., 60 men: Branchport Hose Co., 40 men. making a total of 473 tnen in service.…
