Drill Tower for Los Angeles Firemen. The six-story fire drill tower recently authorized by the Commissioners and now being constructed on the land adjoining Engine Company No. 1 at Pasadena avenue and Avenue Nineteen, Los Angeles, Cal., will be ready for use in a few days. As soon as completed practical drills in life saving and fighting flames will be commenced under the direction of Fire Chief Eley, who believes the tower will be a most valuable adjunct to the Los Angeles department. The skeleton of the tower is already con- structed. The tower will be about 12 feet square and six stories high. Two sides of the tower are to be boarded up while the other two sides above the first floor are to remain open. Windows will be placed in the boarded sides opposite each floor.
