Wilkesbarre Fire Department Report. In his annual report to the Mayor and City Council of Wilkesbarre, Pa., Chief Joe G. Schuler, of the fire department, says: “With the large number of alarms and the number of fires threatening to be conflagrations, I think we were very fortunate in keeping the losses at the very low figures we have. We had 152 box alarms (tw’o of which were outside of the city limits) and 54 private calls, or a total of 206 alarms. Seventeen of the box alarms were false, of which we had seven during the month of December. Some effort should be made to capture and punish the guilty parties sending in such false alarms, as it entails an extra expense to the department, including apparatus and horses, and is also very dangerous to pedestrians.
