Pumping Engine Notes. Fort Dodge, Ia., has accepted the new electrically driven pump which enables the municipal waterworks to supply all the water the city demands from the artesian well. The pump forces water into an 80-foot shaft, from which the big pump forces the water through the mains. The city now requires about 1,200,000 gallons daily. More than 2,000,000 gallons a day may be supplied from the well. In this way the council believes epidemics of typhoid due to water polution may be prevented. Fort Dodge has had much success with its municipal waterworks. The tax for the department was cut in two last year, wdth but a two-mill levy now being paid by the city. It is planned to make the department entirely selfsupporting. Brenham, Tex., has received its new pumps for its waterworks system, which are being placed.
