Fire Hazards Discussed in Boston. The fire hazard in and around Boston was the topic discussed by the Boston Society of Architects after its dinner last week at the Parker House, fully 100 of its members responding to the call. President Sturgis, who acted as toast master, introduced as the first speaker Fire Commissioner Daly. The commissioner dealt with the difficulties of fires, particularly in the congested district, and solicited the co-operation of the architectural profession in securing a high pressure extension system. He spoke of the necessity of extending the laws relating to building construe tion and of tlie need for more men to equip adr quately the fire-fighting forces of the city. Chief Mullen did not hesitate to charge up to the archi tectural profession its share in the shortcomings of so many of the buildings in the city.
