New England Waterworks Association. More than 100 engineers, heads of water departments, commissioners and others interested in water suupply systems and kindred features, gathered at Springfield, Mass., April 12, for the special meeting of the New England waterworks association. The water men lunched, listened and discussed the subject which interests them most, the special theme being hydrant pressure. E. V. French, vice-president and engineer of the Arkwright Mutual Insurance Company of Boston, presented a paper on “Desirable Pressure at Hydrants,” and his remarks were followed by a general discussion of this subject in all its phases. The general subject of fire protection was to have been discussed by Chief William H. Daggett, of the local fire department, but he was unable to be present.
