The New Plant of the A. P. Smith Manufacturing Company. A few months ago the A. P. Smith Manufacturing Company moved from its old factory in Newark, N. J., to its new and extensive plant in East Orange. This change became necessary on account of the great increase in the company’s business. The new works were designed with a view to construct not only the special patented waterworks tools of the company, but also to provide facilities for the manufacture of all classes and sizes of waterworks machinery and appliances that may be needed in modern waterworks practice. In noticing the opening of the new plant a local paper gives the following details: The A. P. Smith Manufacturing Company of East Orange was incorporated in March, 1806, under the laws of the State of New Jersey, for the manufacture of patent tapping machines, valves, fire hydrates and all other waterworks…
